ASPECTS Convert 4:3 PowerPoint to Widescreen 16:10 / 16:9

If you have created a PowerPointŪ presentation in one aspect ratio and need to convert it to show in a different aspect e.g. convert a 4:3 presentation to 16:9 to show on a widescreen TV then you have a problem. Since PowerPoint can ONLY make 4;3 photo albums this can also be a problem!

Going to Page Setup and changing the aspect will result in every image and shape being distorted. It will be a major task taking hours to put this right! Worst case you made your girlfriend, wife or boss look fatter!

It is possible to create a new presentation in the desired aspect ratio and after a lot of cutting pasting and realigning get a presentation that can be shown but it will still be frustrating.

The best solution will always be to rebuild the presentation from scratch in the new format but of course this will be even more frustrating!

ASPECTS does exactly this but in seconds and without the frustration!

The new presentation is built using XML and ASPECTS will ONLY work in PowerPoint 2007 onwards and on a PC. Only 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 show ratios are supported but these are far and away the most popular. Note ASPECTS can convert from standard to widescreen AND widescreen to standard format!

The algorithm that powers ASPECTS is based on a years worth of research into how people use PowerPoint BUT we don't claim it will always re-create the presentation EXACTLY as you would. It will however usually create a perfectly useable presentation "out of the box" and for more advanced users offers control over some aspects of the algorithm.

Features

  • Images are not distorted when the aspect changes!

  • Shapes are not distorted - no more oval circles!

  • Background images on slides or Master are cropped not distorted. Cropping is controllable.

  • Full screen sized images are retained with controllable cropping and no distortion.

  • Picture Placeholders are undistorted.

  • Animation including motion paths are accurately rebuilt.

  • PowerPoint can ONLY produce 4:3 Photo Albums. ASPECTS can convert them to widescreen.

Some Examples

Before conversion: After conversion:
